Care Quality Commission
CQC Statement December 2018
The Care Quality Commission (CQC), the body that regulates healthcare providers in England, has carried out a routine inspection of St Georges Surgery. The inspectors raised concerns about our governance and staff management, and unfortunately rated the practice as ‘Requires Improvement’.
They did however find that we treat our patients with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. They also noted that the practice is caring and responsive to the needs of older patients, patients with long term conditions, families and young children, vulnerable patients and those experiencing poor mental health including dementia. Further, they recognised that we deliver care and treatment according to evidence-based guidelines.
We take the inspectors’ concerns very seriously and have liaised with CQC to develop a comprehensive plan to make the necessary improvements. Our priority has always been to provide high quality medical care for our patients. We welcome the CQC input, which has helped us to focus on the areas that require most improvement.
We are taking steps to make immediate improvements as well as putting longer term solutions in place. With a more robust system of governance and staff management in place we are confident that we will meet the inspectors’ requirements over the coming months.
We would like to thank our patients for their loyalty and support and assure them that the surgery is still very much committed to making these improvements so we can continue to offer a dedicated and caring service to our local community.
If you have any concerns, please feel free to speak to one of our practice team and we will be happy to answer any questions.
